The MSI research model is a multidisciplinary approach to the study
of mountain environments. MSI will:
- develop
and implement a scientific research agenda among MSI, its partners,
- generate
funding for research, equipment and small grant programs for education
institutions, USGS, USFS, EPA, the Avalanche Center, and local
community groups,
- maintain
a fully equipped, all-season field center with satellite bases
for mountain research,
- develop
a curriculum to guide conservation practices ,
- provide
student research stipends and internships, develop an archival
database and long-term monitoring activities, and
- develop
a cooperative research center that cooperates with other North
American and international centers.
