Executive Officers:
Joan May, President. San Miguel County Commissioner, M.S. Health, U. of New Mexico was previously Executive Director of the Sheep Mountain Alliance, an environmental activist group in Telluride, CO. She also served on the Telluride Hospital District Board of Directors and on the Telluride Foundation Board of Directors.
Thurman Wilson, Vice-President/ Treasurer. Watershed and Forestry Planning Consultant, M.S. Forestry, was previously San Juan National Forest Planning Director and Bureau of Land Management Assistant Manager, in Durango, Colorado. Thurman served on MSI's original advisory board for the formation of the organization.

Members:
Lynn Padgett, Ouray County Commissioner, M.S.Geology. In addition to serving as Ouray County Commissioner, Lynn consults as a geologist and biologist as well as serving as Ouray County Commissioner. She has a passion for water issues in Ouray County.
Wally White, La Plata County Commissioner, BA Colorado State University, has a background in finance, foreign trade and international affairs. Wally raises llamas and is a founding member of the Rocky Mountain Llama and Alpaca Association.
Rob Blair, Ph.D. Geology, Colorado School of Mines, is professor emeritus at Fort Lewis College. His focus is geomorphology and geologic processes especially as they relate to mountain environments. He is editor of the popular guide book “Western San Juan Mountains: their geology, ecology and human history.” He is a Durango, CO resident and was instrumental in the concept and formation of MSI from its beginning.
Ilana Stern, M.S. Meteorology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, works with climate model data (archiving, access, analysis, and metadata) for the Climate and Global Dynamics section of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder via telecommute. She has lived in Durango since 2002, and in Colorado since 1989, with the exception of 1999-2002 which were spent on a sailboat in the Atlantic and Caribbean.
