The Coordinating Council and San Juan National Forest invites you to a field tour on October 1, 2024. We will tour the Upper Hermosa Creek Restoration Project, kick the dirt, take in the fall foliage, and enjoy a BBQ together. Please see the details below and we hope to see you there!

When: Tuesday, October 1, 10 am - 4:30 pm
Where: Meet at La Plata County Fairgrounds, travel to the Upper Hermosa Creek Restoration Project.
Outcomes: The goal will to tour a some features of the Upper Hermosa Creek Restoration Project and engage in dialogue and enhance understanding of the following topics:
Connections between roads, forest management and restoration
Project benefits for aquatic organisms and fish passage
Connections and considerations related to recreation
Upcoming 2025-26 projects in the area
Itinerary: We will meet at the La Plata County Fairgrounds at 10 am, arrange carpools, and travel to a variety of sites in the Hermosa Creek area. We will grill up some brats/hot dogs for lunch. Please bring sunscreen, hats, water and snacks to keep yourself fueled up for the day. A more detailed itinerary will be sent when you RSVP. Note: If you plan on driving your own vehicle, 4WD is recommended.
