THIS IS AVAILABLE FOR 9R STUDENTS IN “BRIDGING THE GAP” PROGRAM
Students should be dropped off at the meeting spot at the Rotary Park (1565 East 2nd Ave) gazebo in Durango no later than 8:30am and picked up at 12:30pm on their chosen day. Taking advantage of the cool water, students will take on the role of scientists investigating the aquatic life in the river and what this tells us about our water quality. We will capture aquatic insects and use magnification to identify them. Students will then play active, water-centric learning games like River-Bug-Tag, create scientific drawings, and if time allows, measure river attributes such as discharge (flow) and water chemistry. Please bring drinking water, snacks, sunscreen, and water shoes. Be ready to get wet and have fun!
