Wesley Berg spent his career as a research scientist in atmospheric science specializing in the analysis of satellite data for large-scale hydrological applications and reconstructing climate data records from weather satellites. He retired from Colorado State University in 2021 after 21 years in the Atmospheric Science department. Prior to that he worked at the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratories in Boulder, Colorado after receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado in 1993.
Wes grew up in Colorado and has spent his whole life exploring the mountains. He and his wife have lived part time in Silverton since 2010, moving here full time after his retirement. He is currently a self-employed wildlife photographer who spends a lot of his time in the San Juan mountains observing and photographing animals in their natural environment.
