Love to play in the snow? Want to learn more about winter in the San Juans?
For the first time ever, join Mountain Studies Institute (MSI) and San Juan Mountains Association (SJMA) for a special winter education series, "Après Ski Science and Social" based out of SJMA's Outdoor Research Tiny House at Andrew's Lake.
Starting Saturday, January 15th, our education specialists will be hosting winter interpretive hikes from 2-4 pm on snowshoes or backcountry skis every other Saturday until mid-March. Topics will include forest health, watersheds, climate change, and the future of snowpack in the San Juans.
HIKING WILL START AT 2:00 PM, so be geared up and ready to go by then. SJMA staff will be at the Andrew's Lake parking area by 1:30 PM to provide snowshoes to anyone who needs a pair.
Hikers will return to the parking area at 4:00 PM and are welcome to stay for a hot beverage, bonfire, and good company.
Hikes are FREE to the public, but please register at sjma.org/events.
