ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
The primary goals of this annual conference are to educate the public and other stakeholders on the science and policy of mining, mine lands remediation, and water quality as it relates to non-point source pollution, to improve mining practices, and addressing water quality impairments through workshops, field tours, and presentations. Each year the conference is hosted in a different San Juan community to highlight the host area’s mining heritage and successes in conducting mine remediation and water quality improvement projects.
As a change of pace from previous conferences, this Meetup will offer a low-key, casual event and field tours that emphasize networking and time to reconnect with experts, the mining industry, and community partners. The event will maximize the amount of networking, social interaction, and relationship building and reduce the number of presentations in order to make the most of an in-person gathering.
