Haley (she/her) started with MSI serving as an AmeriCorps member and was hired on permanent to continue supporting the community science and communications teams.
Haley grew up in Northern New Mexico near the Sangre De Cristo Mountains where her appreciation for the outdoors began when she was very young. She spent most of her time outside taking advantage of all the seasons, exploring desert hills, camping and skiing in the mountains, and even spent a summer as a farm intern growing crops for her Pueblo. After developing an undeniable love for nature, Haley came to Durango where she graduated from Fort Lewis College with a bachelors degree in Environmental Studies and Public Health.
This degree path allowed Haley to explore her interests through research, focusing many of her projects on water quality on the local and global scale. With a passion for our watersheds as well as the health of our forests, Haley is excited to work hands on with the community to share knowledge about our environment as well as supporting MSI’s mission to protect the social and natural systems of the San Juan Mountains. Eager to explore, when she’s not working you can find Haley paddling on the river, skiing and backpacking in the mountains, or traveling near and far any chance she gets.
