Guidelines and Protocols for Partners and Volunteers
Joining MSI Staff in the Field
Purpose: Under guidance from Colorado’s Executive Order for Safer at Home, Mountain Studies Institute is able to conduct field and general day to day operations. As a result of guidance from the Center for Disease Control, the following guidelines must be practiced for you to safely join us in the field. We appreciate your willingness to work with us and follow these guidelines to ensure the safety of yourself, our staff, and our communities.
Social Distancing:
If you are not feeling well, please do not participate in work with us
If you come to understand that you were in contact someone who tested positive for COVID-19 prior to volunteering with us, kindly notify the organizer of your MSI related event to enhance contact tracing efforts
All field work must limit group size to no more than 10 people
During events, please minimize group size when possible
At all times, wear face coverings and maintain 6 foot distance from each other
Do not carpool (except with your family) and maintain one person/household per vehicle
Avoid traveling long distances to join us, so that ideally you do cross community boundaries and try to get supplies in your home community
Hygiene:
Frequently wash hands with soap and water
o If in the field for extended time, we will do our best to provide hand washing while in the fieldIf soap and water is not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer
Avoid touching your face, nose, and eyes
Avoid touching domestic animals (fur on pets may be contaminated)
Personal Protective Equipment:
Wearing leather work gloves can help prevent contact with surfaces that may pass on the virus
All participants are required to have adequate face covering
As part of attending an MSI volunteer event you will be asked to sign a waiver that states that you have received a copy of the MSI COVID-19 Workplace checklist, that MSI has explained our COVID practices for you, and that you accept your piece of responsibility to help us comply with the Colorado and local policy rules.
